Problem:

How do I configure the TEXT mode on Gateway 500

Solution:

Text configuration for the supported car brands in Gateway 500 MOST compatibility range are different.
Dension sets the best configuration as default if possible, but the configuration of Gateway 500 is necessary in case of Mercedes and Saab 93 and may possible in other cars.

You can select between the following options:

Track # GW Config Audi BMW Mercedes Porsche Saab Volvo
(XC 90)
Audio 20/50 Comand APS CDR PCM NON Text Text
#1 NOTEXT D, R D O D, R D
#2 Timeout O D, R O
#3 TEXT D, R
#4 +Cache
#5 +Paging R D, R
#6 +Select D, R D, R O R

D; Default O; Optional R; Recommended

Gateway menu and DISC allocation depends on the text configuration. DO NOT select any of the TEXT modes (Track #3, #4, #5, #6) if your head unit is non text capable!

Meaning of the text modes are henceforth:

"No Text"
Basic setting for NON text capable head units..
"+ Timeout"
Possible setting for NON text capable head units which causes auto-select of the current item in the MENU after few seconds of inactivity.
"Text"
Text display is possible and visible on the display if the CD Changer protocol can supports it
"+ Cache"
It downloads all the text informations to a buffer so on Text capable units, text information may appear faster. This option is a must on list capable head units.
"+ Paging"
In order to access tracks easier, they are grouped on virtual pages. The first and the last elements of each page will help you to navigate through the pages. Of course when all of the elements fit to one page no paging controls will be displayed.
“+ Select” /Jog Wheel Select feature/
This function may be enabled on list capable head units with Jog Wheel. With this feature it is possible to browse through tracks, and select each by pressing the wheel. If the Jog Wheel Select feature is active, the list begins with the [<--] item in Menu/Browser mode. By selecting this item the Menu/Browser goes one level up.

For change present setting, toggle the mode selector switch six times (three times on/off) and a configuration menu will appear on the radio display..

Choose the wished item for playing (select track) as it is written in the manual of your audio system then press and hold >> FastForward to confirm the selection.
